Introducing Zhaga

The Zhaga consortium was formed in February 2010 by an international group of comapnies from the lighting industry, including Philips, Toshiba and Panasonic to develop standard specifications for the interfaces of LED light engines and secure a stable platform for luminaire designers and manufacturers.

With their long lifetime, robust design and energy efficiency, LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are fast becoming a major focus across all applications in the lighting industry. As rapid advances in LED technology continue, Zhaga global standards will allow interchangeability between products made by a diverse range of manufacturers. This will prevent market fragmentation into incompatible light engines, giving consumers the confidence to purchase LED products that will be readily available in the market, easily replaceable and able to adapt in line with performance upgrades thanks to the constant advancements in LED technology.

Zhaga's membership continues to grow and already a number of Lighting Australia's major suppliers including Almeco, BAG electronics and A.A.G. Stucchi, are part of this industry-wide cooperation.
