BAG ignitors featuring trilogic technology

BAG electronics is well-known for its high quality control gear and for many years the production of ignitors as part of its core expertise. As Leaders in Ignitor technology, bag offers a complete range of standard ignitors and now digital timed ignitors featuring TriLogic technology.

TriLogic combines interval ignition, cycling recognition and automatic switch-off to provide a much wider range of performance characteristics to that of the standard ignitors with benefits to both lamp ignition and the switching off of defective lamps. The TriLogic ignitors can also be used universally for a variety of different lamps.

Standard version ignitors

Performance Characteristics:

EIP (External Influence Protection) A specially integrated protective circuit protec ts from extreme current and voltage loads, preventing thermal overload of the ignitor.
Softstart Ensures an instantaneous, low-flicker and lamp preserving start, protecting the ignitor and ensuring a maximum service life for the lamp.
Low Loss Where the ignitor is installed together with the ballast in a confined space, low loss reduced internal heat, increasing thermal saftey and providing added protection from breakdowns at increased lamp currents (e.g. towards the end of lamp service life)
Automatic Switch Off Standard timer ignitors ensure that ignition pulses are only generated for a defined period of time. This can take into account the type of lamp and the power category, and can also provide re-ignition after a brief interruption in mains voltage (for functioning, suitable cooled lamps).

Performance Characterstics compared with Standard Timer Ignitors

Interval Ignition Two different starting cycles ensure the safe ignition of cold and warm lamps.
For cold lamps, the ignitor generates continual ignition pulses for 3 minutes. If ignition fails, the ignitor can take into account the possibility that the lamp is warm and switch to interval ignition. Spaced ignition intervals allow the lamp to cool and if the lamp is not ignited after 19 minutes the igniter switches off automatically.
For warm lamps (i.e. lamps extinguished during operation) the igniter switches immediately to interval ignition with time given for the lamp to cool down between ignition attempts. If the lamp is not ignited after 19 minutes the ignitor switches off automatically.
Cycling Recognition Towards the end of their service life, high pressure discharge lamps experience 'cycling', where the burning voltage of the lamps rises slowly after ignition. reaching a level where the mains voltage supply is not longer available and the lamp switches off. Once the lamp has cooled the ignition process starts again resulting in a blinking operation. TriLogic ignitors automatically recognise this 'cycling' effect and if the lamp is extinguished more than 5 times, the automatic switch-off mechanism intervenes. A lamp that operates for 30 minutes after restart can reignite another 5 times to ensure that unintentional switch-off due to mains voltage interruptions does not prevent continuous duty.
Automatic Switch Off Like the standard version timer ignitors, TriLogic ignitors have an automatic switch-off function which intervenes after the lamp has been successfully ignited or when the end of the interval ignition program has been reached and when cycling is recognised.
